How to Install a Drain Plug for a Lavatory Faucet
When you use the built-in drain plug for your lavatory, you do not see the connections under the lavatory and how they connect the lift rod on the faucet to the stopper in the lavatory's drain. While the pieces look complex, assembling the drain stopper mechanism takes less than 20 minutes to complete. You will not need any tools or extra supplies since everything you need comes with the lavatory's stopper. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Insert the end of the lift rod into the hole in the faucet. Allow the lift rod's handle to rest on the top of the faucet assembly.

2
Slide the plastic retaining nut over the long end of the pivot rod piece, pointing the nut's threads at the ball on the other end of the rod. Drop the sink's stopper into the drain opening, making sure the hole in the bottom of the stopper faces the hole on the side of the drainpipe.

Insert the free end of the pivot rod through the opening in the spring clip and one of the holes in the clevis strap. Insert the end of the lift rod into the two holes in the "C" shaped portion of the clevis strap, then tighten the screw in the "C" shape to hold the lift rod in place.
