How to Make Prim Crafts
Prim crafts is an abbreviation of primitive crafts. Prim crafts are made by staining fabric, muslin or linen dark brown or tan with a stain made from tea or coffee to make it looked aged. Tea water stain is used to create a grungy prim look for primitive dolls and other types of crafts. You can make your own prim crafts by staining the fabric and then sewing it into a doll or other project.

1
Place 1 quart of hot water into a large bowl. Add five tea bags to the water. Let the tea bags sit for 15 minutes or until the water has cooled down enough to touch safely. Use a long handled wooden spoon to stir the bags. Pick up the bags and squeeze the water out of them. Discard the tea bags.

2
Add the fabric or muslin to the tea water. Push the fabric or muslin around with the long handled wooden spoon to ensure that all of the fabric soaks up the tea water.

3
Let the fabric or muslin sit in the water for four hours. Examine the fabric or muslin. If it is not dark enough for you, return the fabric to the water and let it sit for another two hours. Once the fabric has stained to the color that you want, put on rubber gloves, remove it from the bowl and wring it out. Hang the fabric over your tub or a bucket to catch the dripping tea water. If you want the prim craft to be blotchy, let it stay wrinkled as it dries. If you want an even color, straighten out the fabric as you hang it up.

Pour the remaining tea water into a spray bottle. Put on rubber gloves, spray the fabric or muslin with the tea water and rub ground spices into the fabric to make the prim look grungy and give it a nice spiced scent.
