How to Get Windows Live Messenger Off of Your Computer

Windows Live Messenger is the instant messenger client associated with Hotmail, MSN and Windows Live email accounts. If you no longer want to have Windows Live Messenger installed on your computer, you can remove it completely. This won't affect the email account associated with the program; you can still check your messages and send IMs using the Web client.

      Click "Start" and select "Control Panel."

      Click "Programs," then "Programs and Features."

      Select "Windows Live Essentials" and click "Uninstall/Change."

    • 4

      Click "Remove One or More Windows Live Programs."

    • 5

      Select the check box beside "Messenger" and click "Uninstall" to remove Windows Live Messenger.

  • You must be logged into Windows as an administrator.
