How to Make Photos Black & White in Photoshop Elements

Open Photoshop Elements. Pull down the "File" menu and select "Open." Browse to the image to turn black and white and double-click its file name.

Click the "Image" menu at the top of the workspace. Select "Mode."

Click "Grayscale." Click "Discard" at the color warning window. The image turns black and white.

Click the "File" menu and select "Save As." Type a new name for the picture so as not to overwrite the color version and click the "Save" button.
