Instructions for the Better Buy Dog Crate

Instructions for the Better Buy Dog Crate thumbnail
Dogs find comfort curled in a ball.

A crate gives your dog a "den with a view." A throwback to their wild ancestors, dogs like curling up in a small place of their own. Some dogs may choose to curl up under a table, or on the seat of a chair. However, crates, such as the Better Buy Dog Crate provide a sturdy, safe place for your dog when you are away or overnight. If you travel with your pet, the crate gives the animal a familiar bed in unfamiliar surroundings.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the box and remove the pieces of the dog crate.

Separate the top and bottom, as well as the long and short sides. Set aside the solid bottom tray and four corner rods.

    • 2

Lay the wire bottom on the work surface so that the hooks all around the sides are facing upwards.

    • 3

Lay the two long sides next to the long side of the bottom.

At the base of each sidepiece there are two, closely spaced wire rungs. Slide these two rungs over the hooks on the bottom of the crate. Repeat for the other long side. Pull the two sides upward until the rungs snap into place in the hooks and the crate forms a "U" shape.

    • 4

Lay the top panel on top of the crate with its hooks facing downwards. Attach the hooks on the top panel to the top rung of the side panels.

    • 5

Lay the door panel on one short side so that the door opens from right to left.

Lay the closely spaced bottom rungs over the hooks on the bottom of the crate. Pull the door panel upwards to snap the rungs under the hooks. Position the loops along the side of the door panel so that they sit on top of the loops that exist on the side of the side panel. Attach the hooks from the top of the crate to the top rung of the panel. Repeat for the short, back panel.

    • 6

Slide a corner rod through the loops on the door panel as they sit atop the loops on the side panel.

Adjust the door or side panels so that the rod goes through all the loops. Repeat for each corner of the crate.

    • 7

Open the door of the crate and slide the solid, plastic tray over the wire base.

Tips & Warnings

  • Better Buy Dog Crates come in a variety of sizes. Choose a crate that is large enough for your dog to stand and turn around, but not much larger.

  • Remove collars and tags before placing your dog in a crate. The collar and tags can become tangled in the wire mesh and choke the dog
