How to Mix Glycerine and Vaseline for Chapped Lips

Chapped lips have many causes including exposure to the harsh cold and winds of winter and dehydration. Local drug stores offer lip balms that will heal severely chapped lips, but many have unfamiliar ingredients. An inexpensive, safe alternative is to use glycerin and Vaseline, or petroleum jelly, to make your own lip balm.

Scoop eight tablespoons of Vaseline into a microwave-safe bowl.

Microwave the Vaseline for 15-second increments on 50 percent heat until it is completely melted.

Add 3 tablespoons glycerin into the bowl.

Stir and add 10 drops peppermint essential oil.

Stir to combine ingredients thoroughly.

Separate the mixture into used or new lip-gloss pots. Clean the pots with soapy water before spooning the mixture into each.
