Digital cameras record images directly onto an inserted memory card. There are many different memory cards, ranging from SD flash cards to XD digital card. All these cards function in the same way, but many camera manufacturers use their own specifically designed card. In order to upload images stored on the memory card, you must use a compatible card reader and upload the images to a computer.
Things You'll Need
- Memory card reader
Identify the kind of memory card you are using. The type of card is printed on the front of the card. Once you know what kind of card it is, you must obtain an external memory card reader that supports this format.
Plug the USB cable running from the external memory card reader into any USB port on the computer system.
Slide the memory card into the card reader, then exit out the AutoPlay window that opens.
Click "Start," "Computer," then double-click the removable device icon. This will open a window displaying all the stored images.
Click and drag the image files from the open window onto the desktop. This will upload the images from the memory card onto the desktop.
