How to Reference the ACA Code

Save

The American Counseling Association Code of Ethics is a set of guidelines governing the ethical and professional behavior of counselors. If you use the ACA Code of Ethics as a source of information for your paper, you must include the ACA Code of Ethics in a reference list at the end of your paper, just as you would with any other source.

  • List the authoring organization. In this case, that information should appear as follows:

    American Counseling Association

  • List the date of publication in parentheses and followed by a period. For example:

    (2014).

  • List the title of the code, followed by a period.

    ACA Code of Ethics.

  • List the city and state of publication, followed by a colon.

    Alexandria, VA:

  • List the publisher. Because the publisher is the same as the author, you simply need to list the publisher as "Author."

  • Ensure that the final citation appears as follows:

American Counseling Association (2014). ACA Code of Ethics. Alexandria, VA: Author.
