How to Prevent Pop-Ups With Avast

The "On-Access Scanner Message" pop-up appears just above the status area of the Windows task bar and shows the files that are being scanned by the Avast! Antivirus application. This pop-up blocks the bottom-right corner of the screen, which may present a problem for some users. If you've become annoyed with the "On-Access Scanner Message" pop-up when running the Avast! Antivirus application, you may turn it off from the "Resident Task Settings" window.

  • Double-click the "Avast! Antivirus" icon in the status bar to open the Avast! program window.

  • Click "Standard Shield." Click "Resident Task Settings."

  • Click the "Advanced" tab.

  • Click to remove the check from the "Show detailed info on performed action" option, then click "OK."

  • Close the "Avast! Antivirus" window to minimize it to the status area of the task bar.
