Instructions

    • 1

Measure and cut a 6-inch piece of yarn. Set the piece of yarn aside.

    • 2

Stick out your index, middle and ring finger on one hand. Bring the fingers together.

    • 3

Wrap yarn around your three fingers at least 50 times. The more times you wrap the yarn, the fuller the completed pom pom will be.

    • 4

Slide the yarn off your fingers carefully so as not to unravel the wrapped yarn.

    • 5

Tie the 6-inch piece of yarn around the center of the bundle.

    • 6

Snip the looped ends of the yarn, and fluff the pom pom.

    • 7

Trim any odd strands of yarn, including the tails of the 6-inch piece tied around the center, so the pom pom has a clean round shape.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make a multicolor pom pom by wrapping two or more colors of yarn around your fingers at the same time.

  • The width of the completed pom pom is equal to the width of your index, middle and ring fingers when held together.

  • Use 1/4-inch-wide strips of fabric instead of yarn to make a fabric pom pom.
