Whether it's a computer reference to disk transactions per second, or Oracle transactions per second, or nearly any type of transaction, a fast-paced business can calculate the number of transactions completed per second. The formula is the same, and so is the calculation. You just need to know the total number of transactions you had and the duration of time in which those transactions took place.

Find the total number of transactions that occurred in a given period. For example, assume that in 1,440 seconds, a company has 900 sales transactions.

Determine the number of seconds in your given period. In the example, there were 1,440 seconds.

Divide your total transactions in a given period by the number of seconds in the period. In the example, 900 transactions divided by 1,440 seconds equals 0.625 transactions per second.
