How to Change the Combination of a Pro Steel Gun Safe

Save

Protecting your dangerous firearms is vitally important, especially if there are children in your home. A Pro Steel Gun Safe ensures only authorized gun users have access to your firearms and ammunition. You should change your gun safe combination if you suspect someone outside your circle of trust or an unlicensed individual discovers it. A locksmith must adjust mechanical Pro Steel safe combinations but digital locks manufactured by Sargent & Greenleaf or Lagard fitted to some Pro Steel safes are changeable at home.

Change Sargent & Greenleaf Pro Safe Combination

  • Press "7" then "4" and the "*" (asterisk) button.

  • Enter your six-digit master code using the number buttons and press "#." The lock will chirp five times.

  • Press "1" then "*" (asterisk), enter a new six-digit master code and press "#." The lock chirps three times.

  • Re-enter the new code a second time and press "#." The safe chirps three times once again, confirming the new code. Your combination is changed.

Change Lagard Pro Safe Combination

  • Enter your existing six-digit code, and the safe will chirp twice. Open the safe door.

  • Enter six zeros ("000000") into the keypad followed by your existing code a second time.

  • Enter a new six-digit code twice, one after the other. Your new code works immediately.

Tips & Warnings

  • Test your new code with the safe open.
  • Entering "user code number" ("2" for example) then "*" (asterisk) in step 3 of the Sargent & Greenleaf instructions, instead of "1" "*" (asterisk,) changes a user code instead of the master code. Complete the guide as instructed, entering a new user code instead of a master code.
