A Zergling Rush is a swarm of soldiers attacking in unison.

"StarCraft II" is a real-time strategy game developed by Blizzard Entertainment. The "StarCraft" series is highly competitive, with professional gaming leagues and teams all over the world. One of the most powerful and iconic strategies of the series is the Zergling Rush, using the Zerg race's basic infantry, the Zerglings.

Instructions

    • 1

Begin the game by putting all of your Drones on Mineral gathering. Zerglings cost 50 Minerals per unit-pair and require no Vespene Gas, so minerals are your only concern.

    • 2

Create more Drones. You will begin the round with six Drones ready to go. You want at least 10 Drones. A Zergling Rush centers around resource management. You must gather resources faster than your enemy. Additional Drones will cost 50 Minerals per unit.

    • 3

Create a Spawning Pool for the cost of 200 Minerals. A Spawning Pool allows you to create Zerglings. Build one as soon as possible.

    • 4

Hatch Zerglings. Zerglings have no ranged attack and low Health, but make up for this with running speed and by spawning in pairs. This means you will create two units for every unit cost.

    • 5

Continue creating Zerglings until you have an army of at least 12. Zergs can create three units at a time, and Zerglings hatch two at a time, so that is two rounds of hatching.

    • 6

Send your units to attack the enemy base directly. Target whatever soldiers they have created first, then target their Gatherers (Probes for Protoss, SCVs for Terrans). If the enemy can't gather more resources, he can't rebuild his army.

Tips & Warnings

  • A Zergling Rush is a battle of resources and numbers. Display the resource counter using the menu located in the upper left to keep track of how quickly your opponent is gathering resources.

  • Do not let your Zerglings split up during the assault. They will auto-target and try to attack multiple targets when one has been destroyed. Your Zerglings must concentrate their fire to quickly take out units.

  • Always check your opponent's strategy. If your opponent thinks you are going to Zerg Rush, your Zerg Rush will fail. A Zergling Rush is a blitzkrieg that is easily countered by building placement to block direct paths and by building more powerful units and defensive guns. You must catch an opponent off guard and unprepared for an instant, massive wave of enemies for this tactic to succeed.

  • Have a backup plan. Once your Zerg army is underway, begin farming Vespene Gas and building Hydralisk and Roach Dens for a standard defense. A Zergling Rush is devastating when it works, but you can also leave yourself open to counterattack if it fails.
