How to Do the Vikings Cheer

"Skol Vikings" is the Minnesota Vikings fight song.

The Vikings fight song is a long-lived tradition based on a Norse Viking chant that dates back to the eighth century. Ancient Vikings would yell "Skol!" which means "good health." "Skol" is now used by Minnesota Vikings football fans and is a portion of the lyrics to the team's much loved "Skol Vikings" song. This cheer can be done with or without music and can bring fans together when singing the Vikings fight song in a crowd.

Instructions

1. Attend a Minnesota Vikings home football game for best effect.

2. Stand with the other fans when they get up to sing the "Skol Vikings" song.

3. Sing the words, according to the "Skol Vikings" page on the Vikings Web site:

   Skol Vikings, let's win this game!

   Skol Vikings, honor your name!

   Go get that first down!

   Then get a touchdown!

   Rock 'em, Sock 'em!
