How to Replace an Eyeglass Pad

Eyeglasses sit on the bridge of your nose and can cause discomfort when the frame presses into the side of the nose. To prevent or alleviate any irritation, eyeglass pads are placed on the section of the frame that touches the sides of the nose. Removing these nose pads regularly and replacing them with new ones will make the glasses fit more comfortably. You will need lens cleaning supplies, which are available in most drugstores. Instructions

    • 1

Place a soft cloth on a work surface. Place the eyeglasses, face down, on the soft cloth. Extend the sides of the eyeglasses that hook over the ears fully outward.

    • 2

Saturate the eyeglass pad that is to be removed with bursts of lens cleaning spray to loosen the adhesive. The eyeglass pad is at one end of one of the two lens, just beneath the bridge holding the two lens together.

    • 3

Let two minutes pass. Peel the eyeglass pad off the plastic base it was attached to, using your fingernail. Throw the eyeglass pad in the trash.

    • 4

Spray the surface of the plastic base that is now exposed with a burst of lens cleaning spray. Wipe the surface firmly with the edge of a lens cleaning cloth to remove any stuck adhesive. Dry the surface with a dry edge of the cloth.

    • 5

Peel the paper backing off the replacement eyeglass pad. Place the replacement eyeglass pad, adhesive side facing away from you, against the plastic base. Press down on the pad to adhere it to the base. Let the pad's adhesive set for an hour before wearing the eyeglasses.
