How to Move Address Bar Position in Firefox

Save

Windows allows users to configure some of its visual features. Many browsers are also highly customizable. Firefox, for example, has a button named "Customize." This button allows you to add new buttons to the user interface and remove those you do not need. The "Customize" button also enables you to reposition other items such as your address bar. If you would rather see this bar on the right side of your Firefox browser, you can move it there using your mouse.

  • Launch Firefox.

  • Click "the "View" button and move your mouse cursor over "Toolbars." A drop-down menu appears.

  • Click "Customize" to display Firefox's "Customize Toolbar" window. While this window is open, you can customize several features of the user interface.

  • Click the left edge of the address bar, and hold down your left mouse button.

  • Hold down the mouse button, and drag the address bar to the right. As you drag, a faint image of the toolbar moves along with the cursor.

  • Drag the address bar until your cursor reaches the right edge of the Firefox Window. Release the mouse button. Firefox places the address bar on the right side of the browser window. Firefox also moves the search bar to the left side of the window where the address bar was before you moved it.

  • Click the "Done" button in the "Customize Toolbar" window.

Tips & Warnings

  • To move the address bar back to its original position, open the "Customize Toolbar" window. Click the left edge of the address bar, hold down your left mouse button and drag the address bar to the left. Release the mouse button when the left edge of the address bar touches the left edge of the search bar.
  • When you have the "Customize Toolbar" window open, you might review the buttons in that window. As you add new Firefox add-ons, some of them may place useful buttons in the window. To add one of those buttons to your toolbar, click the desired button and drag it to any location on the toolbar.
