How to Eject a CD on a Dell Studio

The Studio line of laptop computers produced by Dell are positioned as competition to Apple's MacBook Pro laptops. Both laptops have similar designs, internal hardware components, a slot-loading optical disc drive and feature a separate software-controlled "Eject" button on the keyboard instead of a traditional hardware "Eject" button on the optical disc drive itself. You can eject a CD on the Dell Studio laptop by pressing the "Eject" button or through the Windows Explorer interface.
Press the "Power" button to turn on the Dell Studio laptop.
Press the "Eject" button on the keyboard. This button features an arrow pointing upward and a line at the bottom, and is located in the upper-right corner of the keyboard. If the CD does not eject, proceed to Step 3.
Click the "Start" icon in the lower-left corner of the screen.
Click "Computer."
Right-click the optical disc drive, usually labeled "D:," located beneath "Devices with Removable Storage." The name of the drive is different depending on the optical disc drive type.
Click "Eject." The CD is ejected from the laptop.
Tips
If the CD still does not eject after following both methods, the optical disc drive has malfunctioned and must be repaired.
