How to Make a Batman Costume for Infants
Most store-bought costumes are expensive and often the quality is questionable. Spending a lot of money on a costume for infants is undesirable since they only wear it for one Halloween. Making your own costume ensures you find a costume you want and saves you money. One idea is a Batman costume. Using black baby clothing, black felt and some Velcro, you can make your own infant costume in little time.

1
Place a black knit cap on your infant's head. Pull it down to cover your baby's eyes. Do not cover his mouth and nose. Mark where your baby's eyes are. Remove the cap and cut the holes using a pair of scissors.

2
Cut out two 1-inch triangles from a piece of black felt. Glue the triangles to the top of the knit cap for the ears. Alternatively, use a black hooded sweatshirt and attach triangles to the top of the hood.

Cut a 2-inch wide piece of black felt long enough to wrap around your baby's waist with a 1-inch overlap. Sew a piece of Velcro onto the felt where the ends overlap.

4
Cut a piece of black fabric into a square. It should be long enough to go from your baby's neck to his ankles. Sew a piece of Velcro to the top edge of the fabric. Sew the other side of the Velcro to the back of the neck on a black long sleeve onsie or black one-piece pajamas with long sleeves and pants.

Tips & Warnings
Some babies do not mind things pulled over their eyes, while others do not like it. If your baby dislikes things over his eyes, use a hooded sweatshirt instead of a knit cap. Or, use the knit cap but do not pull it over the baby's eyes.
If desired, cut out a bat shape from a piece of black or yellow felt and attach it to the front of the onsie using fabric glue.
You can sew the cape to the neck of the onsie. However, having it detachable allows you to remove the cape to put your baby down for a nap.
You can cut a scalloped edge on the bottom of the cape in a bat wing pattern, if desired.
