How to Draw Anime Boys' Clothes
Anime is a type of animation that was first conceived in Japan. The cartoon is identified by highly stylized characters that dress in simple clothing and jagged haircuts. Minimal lines are used to create figures that appear quirky. Drawing Anime boys' clothing requires paying particular attention to the folds in the clothing, as these give the articles texture and form. Typical anime boys' clothes are casual T-shirts and pants.

Draw the outline of the item of clothing. Boy anime characters typically wear short-sleeved T-shirts and long shorts. For a T-shirt, draw a 'T' shape, then bulk out the shape by going around them with curved lines.

Show folds and creases on the clothing. First, identify areas on the boy where creases would be seen -- if his arm is bent, then the elbow would be an obvious area. Around the crotch and under the armpit are common areas to add this feature.

Identify in which direction the fabric is moving. Around the crotch, the material would pull up, just below the zipper but down on the inside leg. Where this occurs draw a 'v' shape. The point faces in the direction the material is pulled.

Shade around the lines of the 'v' to build up the appearance of folds. Make the lines heavier for distinct areas, such as under the armpit, then shade inside the triangle. Make it darker from the the edge outwards to illustrate the shadow of the fold.

Add depth of field to the shape of the clothing. To make the shoulders around the top of the boy's T-shirt rounded, use a series of curved lines at the corner of the T-shirt.

Define the clothing as a boy's by showing that it is a simple T-shirt, rather than a buttoned shirt or another type of woven shirt. A T-shirt has a rounded neck, so darken the seam around the neck, and sketch a logo on the front of it. Using a playful scene, such as a person on a skateboard, or drawing a rock band would be ideal to show the youthfulness of the character.

Dress the Anime boy in sneakers. Often the characters are depicted in shoes that are bigger than normal, as this is part of its distinct style. You can achieve this simply by drawing a sneaker slightly bigger than usual. Define it by adding large, wide shoelaces.

Refer back to your original Anime boy picture to make a comparison between your interpretation of the clothing and the original. Try to improve your image by noting where you made mistakes, and make the necessary changes. Rub out the lines and try again, until you get it right.

Keep each line thin that you draw, and try not to go over it more than once. Anime style consists of minimal, clean lines, which represent clothing simply, but effectively.
