How to Undo Changes in iCal

An accidental change to an event in the iCal calendar application isn't permanent as long as you've previously backed up your information. ICal backups are routinely saved onto your computer in the event of an error and can easily be restored to revert your application's calendars to the backup's data. As a result of restoring a backup, any new data in the calendar is lost and cannot be recovered.

Restore through iCal

  • Click the "iCal" icon on your desktop's dock located at the bottom of the screen.

  • Click the File menu, and click "Export." Create a name for the current calendar, and click "Export." This function backs up your current version of iCal to your computer, which is useful in case you wish to restore the current iCal data.

  • Click the File menu, click "Import" and click "Import" once again. Click the iCal backup file in the pop-up window, and click "Import."

Restore through Time Machine

  • Click "Go" on the desktop's menu and click "Applications." Double-click "Time Machine" to launch Time Machine.

  • Click the arrow at the bottom of the screen or click the date to locate your backed up iCal file. Click the iCal file, and click "Restore" in the lower right corner of the desktop.

  • Click "iCal" on your desktop's dock, and click "File," "Import" and "Import" on the application's menu.

  • Click the restored iCal file located on your desktop, and click "Import."
