You can install a Zip drive on your Gateway 500X computer.

The Zip drive was developed by Iomega and was introduced in 1994. This device quickly became popular because it could store up to 750 megabytes, or MB, of data. The Zip 3.5-inch floppy disk had all of the conveniences of earlier versions of the floppy disk but held much more data. The portable and rugged disk was used to back up and archive personal and server computer data. Many backup programs use the Zip disk as a means of archiving data.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on your Gateway 500X computer.

    • 2

Plug the USB cable into your Zip drive. Plug the other end into your computer's USB port. Turn on the Zip drive.

    • 3

Wait for your computer to recognize your Zip drive. Once you see the message on the lower-right corner of your desktop screen that you have a "successful installation" of new hardware, your Zip drive will have been connected to your computer. You can then transfer files from your computer to the Zip disks in the drive.
