How to Remove Rich Video Codec
A video codec is a program that allows you to play multiple video file types in your video player of choice. The Rich Video Codec is a fake codec program that is a Trojan horse program. This program will allow the creator to access your files and install new viruses or spyware. In order to get rid of the Rich Video Codec if you accidentally installed it, you must remove the program from your system by following a few steps.

Turn on your computer and let it boot up before continuing. Once the operating system is loaded, close any programs or web browsers that may be running as the Rich Video Codec could be using these programs to infect your computer. Back up any files that are important just in case there is an issue and your computer stops working.

Click on the "Start" button followed by the "Settings" option. Click on the "Control Panel" option that appears which will bring up a list of several menu options. Click on the "Add/Remove" programs option. You will see a list of the programs on your computer. Scroll down until you see "Rich Video Codec," then click on it. Click the "Remove" button to delete this program.

Press the "Alt," "Ctrl" and "Delete" buttons at the same time to bring up the Task Manager application. Click on the processes tab at the top of the window. You will see a list of programs currently running. Click on the "Uninstall.exe" option and click "End Process." Click on the "ttvbonnwr.exe" option and click "End Process."

Click the "Start" button again followed by "Run." Type "regedit" in the box that appears and click "OK." This will open a list of registry files for your system. In the screen that appears, right click on "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion" and select the "Modify" option. Click the "Delete" button. Repeat this process for "\Uninstall\RichVideoCodec" and "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VideoPlugin" which will appear on the menu.

Open the "My Computer" folder and click on the "C" drive. Click on the "Search for Files and Folders" option on the left side and type in "RichVideoCodec" and press "Enter." Right-click on any files that appear and click the "Delete" option.
