How to Disable WordPress Core Update Plugin
In WordPress 2.3 and up, if a newer version of WordPress is available, you will see a notification at the top of the administrative interface. While this helps administrators to update their own installations, it can be bothersome for non-admin users who can see that a new version is available but who lack the privileges to actually perform an upgrade. An admin can turn these update notification messages off for his users with the "Disable WordPress Core Update" plugin.
