Many of its records are open to the public, and you can look them up using the Federal Record Center Case Record Lookup service. You may also order transcripts of cases.

      Log on to the Northern District of Illinois website (www.ilnd.uscourts.gov/home) and click on the Federal Record Center Case Record Lookup link.

      Type in the information on the case. The form specifies which office handled the case, the year, type of case and case number. Hit "Search." The case information will populate the screen.

      Order a transcript of the case using the online order form. You must have the judge's name, case number, proceeding date and case title. Transcripts can be delivered within 30 days or 2 hours depending on the circumstances. Court transcript fees range from $3.05 to $7.25 per page.
