How to Build a Mage Character in "Oblivion Stealth"
"The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion" is a role-playing game in which you can create a warrior, mage, thief or any combination of the three. The type of character you play is entirely dependent on the major skills you select for him, in addition to the class, birthsign and race you select. The birthsign signifies the constellation under which a person is born. While you do not need to exclusively choose attributes that will bulk up your mage's magic, it will help in maximizing your abilities.

1
Create a new game in "Oblivion." Select "Breton" as your character's race. Bretons have 50 more points of magicka, or the magical energy used to cast spells, than any other race. They are also 50 percent resistant to magic attacks from enemies.

2
Play through the tutorial until the Emperor asks to know your birthsign. Select "Apprentice," "Atronach" or "Mage." "Apprentice" grants an additional 100 magicka points with a 100 percent weakness to magic. Coupled with the Breton race, your magicka reserve becomes very large and your weakness is halved. "Atronach" gives you a 150 magicka boost, but you must take potions to regenerate your reserve. "Mage" merely gives you a 50 magicka point boost.

Continue playing through the tutorial until Baurus asks you what your skills are. Select the "Mage" preset for the maximum benefit to your character as a mage.
