How to Turn off Music on PlayStation 3 During Gameplay
The music, sound effects and voice tracks of a PlayStation 3 video game are typically three separate audio tracks. The games you play on the console allow you to individually control the volume of each track. Press the "Start" button on your Dual Shock 3 controller at any time during a game to pause. This brings up an on-screen menu.

Select "Options" or "Settings," whichever is available for the game you are playing.

Select the "Audio" menu. Highlight the "Music" track volume and use the left directional stick on your controller to move the slider bar all the way to the left, which mutes the music and completely turns it off in the game you are playing.
