How to Move in "Final Fantasy XI" Using QWERTY Keyboards

By default, "Final Fantasy XI" for the computer comes with the full keyboard option enabled. The full keyboard option assumes you have a number pad on your keyboard and disables the "WSDA" controls that most computer games use as the movement keys. Fortunately, you can enable the compact keyboard option, which causes the "WSDA" keys to activate; all you need to do is make a few adjustments of the keyboard options from the main menu of the game.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the "-" button on your keyboard.

    • 2

Navigate to the "Config" settings. Click "Misc 2," above the "Effects" button.

    • 3

Click "Compact" under "Keyboard Type." A red line should appear under "Compact," indicating the option is currently enabled. Press "-" again to exit the menu.

    • 4

Move forward by pressing the "W" key, backward by pressing "S," left by pressing "A" and right by pressing "D."
