Not to be confused with baker's yeast, brewing yeast adds nutritional value to your diet. Simple ways to incorporate it into your lifestyle include sprinkling it on popcorn, adding it to shakes and smoothies, sneaking it into mashed potatoes, or adding it to gravy. Things You'll Need

  • Whole wheat flour
  • Dry yeast
  • Lukewarm water
  • Honey
  • Dark molasses
  • Salt
  • Warm water
  • Brewing yeast
  • Caraway seeds, if desired
  • Large bowl

Instructions

      Place 7 1/2 cups of whole wheat flower into a bowl. Dissolve 2 tbsp. of dry yeast in 1 cup of lukewarm water, stir in 1 tbsp. of honey.

      Mix 4 tbsp. of dark molasses into another cup of lukewarm water, add it to the mixture of dry yeast and honey.

      Add 1 tbsp. of salt, the water and molasses, and the yeast and honey to the flour, then stir in 2 cups of water and mix to form sticky dough. Add 2 tbsp. of brewing yeast and, if desired, half of a cup of caraway seeds.

      Grease two 9-by-5-by-3 inch loaf pans. Add the bread mixture to the pans, filling each no more than 2/3 of the way. Allow them to rise for 40 minutes in a cool oven.

      Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Bake the loaves for 30 to 40 minutes, until golden brown. Allow them 10 minutes to cool, then remove them from the pans and allow them to cool further.

  • For best results, warm the bowl and flour in a lightly warmed oven prior to mixing.
