1
Determine the diameter of the pool. The box contains the set-up guide with dimensions.
-
2
Nail two 2-by-4 inch boards together, making them 1 to 2 feet longer than the diameter of the pool. For instance, if the pool is 12 feet wide, nail two 2-by-4 boards that are 8 feet long together to measure between 13 and 14 feet long.

3
Pick a site for your pool that is level or nearly so. Clear the site by removing any rocks or debris that may cause damage to the bottom of the Intex pool. Use a landscape rake and clear the area.
-
4
Cover the site for the Intex pool with sand. Place more sand in the lower end of the site. Move it around using the back side of a landscape rake.
-
5
Drill a hole in the center of the 2-by-4 you assembled. Place the assembly on the top of the sand with the center in the middle of the circle.
-
6
Drive a 3/8-inch metal rode through the hole in the center. Turn the 2-by-4 assembly in a circle, removing the top layer of sand until it is level all the way around.
-
7
Place the Intex pool liner on top of the sand. Spread it evenly.
-
8
Inflate the top ring using a standard air pump. When it is firm, add water to the pool. The inflated ring rises with the water level as the pool fills.
-
9
Step into the pool when the water is between 1 and 2 inches deep. Crawl on your hands and knees, pushing the wrinkles out of the bottom toward the edges.
