How to Use Frosting to Decorate Sugar Cookies

Things You'll Need
- Frosting
- Bowls
- Food coloring
- Spoons
- Cream
- Butter knives
- Sugar cookies
- Cookie sheet
- Wax paper

Divide white frosting into a series of bowls, using one bowl of frosting for each color you want to make.

Drip four drops of food coloring into each bowl to make different colors. For secondary colors, mix food colorings. Two drops of red and two drops of blue makes purple, two drops of yellow and two drops of blue makes green; two drops of red and two drops of yellow makes oranges. Stir the food coloring well into the frosting bowls.

Add a 1 tsp. of cream to each bowl to thin out the frosting and make it easier to spread onto the cookies.

Spread the colored frosting over each cookie using a butter knife to achieve a thin, even layer of frosting on each cookie.

Place each frosted cookie onto a sheet of wax paper over a cookie sheet. Place the filled tray of frosted cookies into the refrigerator for an hour, allowing the frosting to set.
