How to Set Up an Email Subscription for Blogger

Blogger is one of the oldest blogging platforms, and because it is owned by Google, you can use the Google ID associated with your Blogger account to set up email subscription services through Feedburner, which also happens to be owned by Google. Feedburner offers a variety of services for email subscriptions, including links to share via social media directly from the email.

Instructions

      Navigate to Feedburner's website and log in using the Google ID associated with your Blogger account (see Resources).

      Type the full URL for your Blogger blog into the "Burn a feed right this instant" box and click the "Next" button.

      Select "ATOM" or "RSS" as your feed source and click the "Next" button. ATOM has some technological advantages over RSS, but RSS is the more common format.

      Type a suffix for your feed address. Using the name of your blog is practical and helps people find your feed more easily. Click the "Next" button.

      Click the "Skip directly to feed management" link, then click the "Publicize" tab.

      Click the "Email Subscriptions" link in the left column of the Publicize page. Click the "Activate" button.

      Select a language for your subscriber sign-up window. Click the tab next to "Use as a widget in" and select "Blogger" from the drop-down menu. Click the "Go!" button.

      Enter the login information for your Blogger account and click the "Sign In" button. If you have more than one blog on Blogger, click the "Select a blog" tab and select the one for which you just prepared email subscriptions from the drop-down menu.

      Click the "Add Widget" button to add your email subscription sign-up box to your Blogger blog. You can move the gadget by dragging and dropping it to the desired location on the "Add and Arrange Page Elements" page in Blogger.

      Navigate back to Feedburner's website. Click the "Communication Preferences" link under the "Email Subscription" heading on the left to edit the confirmation email subscribers receive when they sign up.

      Click the "Email Branding" link to change the text and customize the email your subscribers receive with the latest articles from your blog's RSS or ATOM feed.

      Click the "Delivery Options" link to edit settings for the time you want to your email subscriptions to be delivered.
