Fill a sink with warm water, adding 4 or 5 drops of mild dish soap.

Place the glass tube into the sink. If the tube is very dirty, allow the tube to rest in the water for 10 to 15 minutes. If the tube is not heavily soiled, you can wait one or two minutes.

Dip the drinking glass sponge into the soapy water. Pull the tube out of the water. Make sure you hold it tight as a glass tube tends to become slippery when wet.

Run the drinking glass sponge in and out of the tube several times. Repeat until the tube looks clean inside.

Wet a cotton rag in the sink water and wipe down the outside of the tube. Rinse the rag as needed and repeat until the tube is clean on the outside.

Rinse the inside and outside of the glass tube with fresh tap water.

If the glass pipe is particularly narrow, you can use soft-bristled pipe cleaners.
