How to Tip at Starbucks
While tipping at Starbucks is not necessary, it is much appreciated by the baristas. Patrons who frequent the establishments will typically see a clear jar with a handmade sign that says, "Tips," located on the counter next to the cash register; in fact, you may see a tip jar on the outdoor counter of the drive-through window as well.

Look for a tip jar at the counter where you place your order. While Starbucks tip jars can vary, they are typically clear with a handwritten sign that says, "Tips."
-
2
Wait to tip until after you place your order and receive your change back. Some patrons choose to wait until after they receive their drink or food item before tipping to ensure it is correct.

Leave a tip of $1 for every purchase if you intend to sit in Starbucks for an extended period of time, says the Mighty Girl website on coffeehouse etiquette. Leaving a tip not only says, "Thank you" and "Good job," but promotes goodwill.

Place the money in the jar. Do not hand the tip to the barista, they will just put it in the tip jar. Starbucks calculates the tips on a weekly basis and distributes them to each barista who worked according to the amount of hours they worked that week.
