How to Make Easter Nests With Chow Mein Noodles
Imagine sweet, crunchy little bird nests with jelly beans used for eggs. This Easter treat looks attractive arranged on a table, or nestled in an Easter basket. This recipe is a variation on the classic Rice Krispies treats, but with chow mein noodles instead of crisp rice cereal. Things You'll Need
- Muffin pan
- Butter for pan
- 1/4 cup or 1/2 stick butter
- 2 cups miniature marshmallows
- Heavy saucepan
- Stove
- Wooden spoon
- 4 cups chow mein noodles

Rub the insides of the cups in a muffin pan with butter. Lubricate the sides as well as the bottoms of the cups.

Mix together the 1/4 cup of butter and the marshmallows in a heavy saucepan. Cook the mixture over medium heat. Stir it constantly until the butter and marshmallows are melted and mixed.

Remove the pan from the stove. Stir in the chow mein noodles. Mix the ingredients carefully to coat all the noodles.

Grease your hands with butter so the mixture won't stick to them. Then press handfuls of the chow mein noodle mixture into the interior of the muffin pan holes. Give each nest an even layer of side and bottom material.

Set the pan aside to allow the nests to cool. This should take about 30 minutes. When the nests are cool and solid, turn the pan over to release the nests.

Tips & Warnings
Give your nests a pastel look by adding two or three drops of food coloring to the mixture just before you stir in the chow mein noodles.
