How to Write a Business Letter Announcing a Business Opening
A new business opening is an exciting time but it may be more difficult than you think to get the word out. One way to attract attention for your business opening is to compose a convincing business letter advertising the fact. You can then release the letter to VIPs, potential customers, suppliers and other community members.

1
Write the current date at the very top of the letter followed by your own business address and the name and address of the recipient (called the inside address) per standard business letter format. Address each letter to a specific individual ("Dear Ms. Smith").
-
2
Introduce yourself as the business owner or a representative of the business in the first line of the body of the business opening announcement. Explain how excited and pleased you are to be able to announce this opening. For example, "As the proud owner of the new ABC Dealership on Country Road, I am happy to announce our grand opening day."

3
Mention the exact business opening day at the beginning of the letter as well. Include the day of the week, the date and the time.
-
4
Explain the type of products or services you offer at your new business in the second paragraph. Discuss briefly the features and benefits of the offerings you sell. If you plan to offer a special first-day deal, say so in the letter.
-
5
Entice the recipient to attend by mentioning any food, attractions or free services you plan to provide at opening day if you've planned a large event.
-
6
Close the letter by expressing how much you would like to see the guest in attendance. Ask the recipient to bring the letter, which represents a special invitation, with him to the opening for a discount, gift or other prize. This way you'll know how the person learned about your new business.
-
7
Reiterate the business opening date, time, place and other details in bold, centered font at the end of the letter. End the letter with your full name and signature (signature block). If you have enclosures, such as a business brochure, write "Enclosures" on the final line of the letter.
