How Do I Open a File by Microsoft Publisher?

How Do I Open a File by Microsoft Publisher? thumbnail
You can view Publisher files in one of several ways.

Microsoft Publisher is a design program for making visually enhanced documents like fliers, calendars, brochures and newsletters. If you receive a file in Publisher format, which ends in ".PUB," you will not be able to open it if you do not have Publisher. Since there is no "Publisher Viewer" program, to view the file you must convert it to a readable format like PDF. To view and edit it, you must install either a trial or full version of Publisher.

Instructions

    • 1

Request a different format of the file, like PDF, from the person who sent it to you. If it's a PDF, you will be able to view the file but not edit it. To view a PDF, you need Adobe Reader, which you can download for free.

Download a trial version of Publisher from Microsoft. You will have free access to Publisher for a limited time and can open any files in the PUB format. In addition, you can edit the files you open. After your trial period is over, you can purchase the full program if you would like to continue using it.

Convert the file to a PDF and view it using Adobe Reader. You can do this by using a PDF conversion software program like Adobe Acrobat. A number of free PDF conversion websites are available.
