Instructions

    • 1

Cool the shredded roast in the refrigerator until it has reached a temperature at which it may be handled comfortably.

    • 2

Decide how you would like to portion your cooked shredded roast. Freeze it in 1 cup portions for single servings or freeze it all together if you expect to use all the leftovers at once.

    • 3

Use a measuring cup to measure your shredded roast into portions and dump the portions into the freezer bags. Avoid getting shredded roast in the zipper part of the bag, which could prevent a good seal.

    • 4

Shake the portions to the bottom of the bag. Grasp each bag by the top corners at the ends of the zipper and give it a few shakes.

    • 5

Place the bag on the counter and push excess air out if it. Use your forearm and slide it across the empty section of the bag from the bottom to the opening, then press the zipper seam together.

    • 6

Attempt to push more air out of the freezer bag after it is sealed. Listen to make sure no air escapes the bag. If you hear or feel air escape the bag, it is not sealed properly. Unseal the bag, force the excess air out and reseal again.

    • 7

Place the freezer bags full of cooked, shredded roast in the freezer.

Tips & Warnings

  • Cooked shredded roasts will last indefinitely in the freezer, but taste and texture will begin to decline after three months.
