How to Make Steam Faster
Steam is a digital distribution service on the PC, created by Valve Software, that allows you to download PC games directly to your computer. When you have purchased a game through the Steam client, it automatically downloads the game from a Steam content server. If your download speed is slower than normal, your Steam download settings may not be configured properly. These settings can be changed from within the Steam client.

Verify that your firewall or anti-virus software is allowing Steam access, as this could cause slow download speeds if they are blocking Steam. Consult your firewall or anti-virus software for details, as each program is different.
