For softer ice cream, run your Rival ice cream maker for just 20 minutes.

Rival's 8210 series of electric ice cream makers can make up to 2 quarts of homemade ice cream. Similar to the company's GC81 series of ice cream makers, the 8210 series is fully automated and includes a freezing canister, paddle, motor and cover. Following the right instructions for freezing the canister and adding the liquid ice cream mixture should allow you to make your own ice cream in less than an hour. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Place the freezing canister in a freezer for up to 24 hours. For freezers that have temperatures ranging from 25 degrees below zero to 13 degrees below zero, the freezing can take as little as 12 hours.

    • 2

Slide the unit that contains the motor onto the cover. You should hear two tabs click and lock into place.

    • 3

Place the paddle extender into the opening of the motor unit.

    • 4

Take the freezing canister out of the freezer and place the paddle in the canister. There is a small hole at the bottom of the freezing canister where the bottom of the paddle will fit.

    • 5

Place the motor on top of the freezing canister. The locking tabs that are on the outer ring of the motor should be lined up with the tabs on the freezing canister.

    • 6

Place the cover on top of the motor. Again, all of the locking tabs should be aligned.

    • 7

Turn the cover counterclockwise until you hear the tabs click into place.

    • 8

Insert the ice cream maker's plug into an electrical outlet and turn the machine on by pressing the "on" button on the cover.

    • 9

Pour in the liquid ice cream mixture that you have prepared or bought into the mixing feeder on the side of the freezing canister.

    • 10

Run the machine for 20 to 40 minutes. This is the amount of time it will take for the ice cream to reach a level of consistency that you desire.
