How to Install a SMART Board
Smart Boards are interactive whiteboards that incorporate touch detection technology that allows users to write, draw and interact with the content projected on the whiteboard. Smart Boards connect to both laptops and desktops and are used as tools in both educational and corporate settings. To install a Smart Board, you need to both install the software and physically connect the necessary cables.
Things You'll Need
- Smart Board installation CD-ROM
- Cable with DB9 connector and USB connector

Insert the Smart Board installation CD-ROM that was included with your purchase into your computer. The program will begin running automatically. Follow the on-screen directions to install the Smart Board software.

Turn your computer off to finalize the installation of the Smart Board software.

Insert the DB9 connector into nine pin serial port found on the lower-right side of the Smart Board. Tighten the screws once the connector is in place.

Insert the USB connector into the USB port in your computer and turn your computer back on.

Confirm that the Ready Light, found on the Smart pen tray, turns red. This indicates that the Smart Board is turned on. If it is not red, check to make sure everything is properly connected.

The Ready Light on the Smart pen tray will now change colors from red to green. This indicates a successful connection between the Smart Board and the computer.

Tips & Warnings
Once the device is installed, make sure you orient the Smart Board in order to keep the technology working as accurately as possible.
