When designing a bedroom, using a canopy bed creates a dramatic and luxurious look. Adding sheer and satin fabrics to the bed enhances the ambiance of the room and transforms the bed into a soft, romantic retreat, and the various color options to choose from allow you to complement the rest of the room's decor. Using satin for bedding gives you a luxurious night's sleep and completes the elegant design of the space.
Things You'll Need
- Sheer fabric panels
- Silk cord
- Satin bedding
Pick out sheer panel colors to complement the rest of the room. Light colors such as pink, yellow, white or cream give the bed an airy appearance, while darker colors such as burgundy, black or blue give the bed a dramatic look. For a romantic bedroom look, shop for sheer panels that feature embroidered flowers or accent beading.
Drape sheer fabric panels across the width of the canopy frame. Make sure you have enough length of the sheer fabric to drape across the canopy frame and down the side of the bed so the panels touch the floor.
Hang or wrap sheer panels from each corner post of the canopy bed, so the panels drape down the posts. Tie a ribbon or silk cord around the middle to bunch each panel and either tie into a romantic bow or hang an ornate tassel from the ribbon or cord for added dimension.
Make the bed using satin bedding in either a color that matches the canopy or complements it. Add five to six pillows of assorted shapes and sizes to create a luxurious, cozy look. Satin pillow covers that feature ribbon or beading trim enhance the overall look of the bedding.
