North American Industry Classification System codes, or NAICS (pronounced "nakes") codes, are a standard used by federal agencies in order to classify business establishments in the U.S., Canada and Mexico for the collection, analysis and comparison of statistical data. Because there is no central agency assigning NAICS codes to businesses, numbers are self-assigned or assigned by individual agencies based on data collected. Changing your NAICS code can be challenging depending on the number of agencies that have incorrect NAICS code information.
Navigate to "www.USA.gov" in your Internet browser.
Click on "A-Z List of Agencies" "Popular Topics" navigation section on the vertical right.
Select the agency with which you wish to change your NAICS code.
Use the contact information on each agency site to call or email them with regard to your query. This information can typically be found on the "Contact Us" page of the website, but the location of this page will vary by agency.
Repeat this process for all relevant government agencies.
