How to Delete a Contact in Apple Mail

When you create a new email message using the free Apple mail application that is installed on every Mac, you need to include the email address of your recipient in the "To" field. You click on "Address" at the top of the email message window, which opens up a window with a list of all your contacts. If you want to delete a contact, you edit the list in the Address Book application, which works with Mail as well as the iCal calendar application.

  • Click the "Address Book" icon in the Dock on your Mac to launch the Address Book application.

  • Click "All Contacts" in the left pane of the Address Book window.

  • Click a contact in the list under the "Name" heading to select it.

  • Click "Edit" from the Address Book menu, and then click "Delete Card." A message appears, asking you to confirm that you want to delete the contact from your address book.

  • Click "Delete."

  • Click "Address Book" from the Address Book menu, and then click "Quit."
