How to Reset an HP OfficeJet 6310

Under normal circumstances, clearing a paper jam or cleaning an ink cartridge will also clear any error messages from your HP OfficeJet 6310. But sometimes the original error message does not go away, even after the underlying issue has been resolved. When that happens, the best course of action is often to reset the HP 6310. Performing a reset clears the memory in the unit, along with any remaining error messages.

  • Push in the power button on your HP OfficeJet 6310 and hold it in until the green light goes out. Remove the power cord from the back of the unit.

  • Wait 30 minutes, then plug the power cord back in to the back of the OfficeJet 6310. Allow the printer to power up as normal.

  • Press the power button to turn the printer off a second time. Leave the printer off for a minute, then power the printer back on to complete the reset.
