How to Throw a Card Game for a Bachelor Party
You don't need a big trip to Las Vegas to hold a card game bachelor party. Throw one at home, instead. A DIY card game will let you invite more people, while still keeping the bachelor party intimate. It also allows you to do it all on a budget. You can pair the night up with a card game theme for even more fun.
Instructions
-
Before the Bachelor Party
-
1
Pick a theme for the night, like A Night in Vegas, Riviera Romance or Gold Rush Saloon. Decide which card games you want to include. Poker, blackjack and bridge are popular, but you may even want to include Uno, War or Go Fish for fun. Include rules for the selected games in your invitation.
-
2
Send out invitations, either by mail or email. Design the invitations according to the theme. For example, you could use dice and fonts from the iconic "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign for a Las Vegas theme.
-
-
3
Borrow or rent enough card tables and chairs to fit all of your guests.
-
4
Buy any of the following items you don't already have: poker chips, card decks (enough for one deck at each table) and bridge pads. You may have several tables playing the same game, or a different game set up on each table.
-
5
Prepare refreshments like hero sandwiches, pizza, chicken wings and fries. For a Las Vegas theme, keep it classic with shrimp cocktail, steak, garlic mashed potatoes, Caesar salad and martinis. For a Western saloon theme, prepare fried chicken and Tex-Mex options like nachos, chili con carne and quesadillas.
-
6
Create a signature drink for the night, based on the bachelor's favorite drink or flavors. If you can, hire a professional bartender to help create the signature drink and to serve and tend bar throughout the party.
During the Party
-
7
Have professional card dealers at each table to uphold an authentic card game feel and keep any cheaters at bay. It should also add some comedy to the tables by playing Uno, War and Go Fish.
-
8
Play theme-appropriate movies in the background. A Las Vegas theme would have movies such as "Casino," "Ocean's 11," "Croupier" and "The Cooler." A James Bond theme should definitely include anything from the James Bond movie arsenal, but especially "Casino Royale." A saloon theme should have "The Gunfighter" and "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" playing.
-
9
Provide some door prizes for the winners of each game. Give prizes out as each game is won, since guests may leave at different times during the night.
