How to Treat Facial Redness With Tetracycline
Tetracycline is an antibiotic that is orally or topically used to treat bacterial infections. It is sometimes used to help control the bacteria that causes acne. This in turn, reduces facial redness caused by these inflammatory lesions and helps the complexion become clearer. Tetracycline must be prescribed to you by a doctor and is only used in moderate to severe acne cases. Visit your doctor or dermatologist to have your skin assessed, and to obtain a prescription for tetracycline. You may also be prescribed a topical cream.

Take the prescribed dose of tetracycline each day with a glass of water. Take your prescription one hour before or two hours after eating. This drug must be taken on an empty stomach to be effective, as food inhibits the absorption of the drug.

Store the remaining tetracycline capsules at room temperature, or store the liquid form in the refrigerator. Check the expiry date and never use past this date. Outdated tetracycline is known to be highly toxic to the kidneys.

Continue to take the drug as per your doctors instructions. Your doctor will normally decrease the dosage amount as skin improvement is noted.

Do not use this drug if you are pregnant of if you are under 11 years of age.
Using this drug will increase your skins sensitivity to the sun.
