How to Sterilize Bottles That Contain BPA

How to Sterilize Bottles That Contain BPA thumbnail
Washing BPA bottles in hot soapy water is the recommended method.

Plastic bottles with the number 7 or the letters PC printed on the bottom, contain bisphenol A (BPA). Recent studies on animals have shown this chemical may be linked to insulin resistance, obesity and infertility. BPA is released from the plastic when it is heated and is digested by the consumption of its contents. Traditional methods for sterilizing bottles involve boiling them in hot water for 5 minutes. This is not longer necessary, because municipal water supplies are very reliable.
