How to Set a Post Always on Top in Blogger

Save

Setting a blog post to always appear at the top of Blogger is often done to alert readers to site news, announce events or introduce new readers to your website. There are two different methods for setting a post to the top of Blogger, each providing slightly different benefits. By setting a post publication to a future date, you can ensure a post is kept at the top while also appearing in your RSS feed. Alternatively, by adding a sticky post page element to your template, you can easily control the content of the entry without changes appearing in your RSS feed.

Set Post to Future Date

  • Launch a Web browser and log in to your Blogger account.

  • Click "New Post."

  • Compose your blog post and then click "Post Options."

  • Change the post date to a point far into the future. As Blogger displays posts in reverse chronological order, the newest post will always be displayed at the top. By setting the post to the future, you can ensure that new posts never appear above this entry.

  • Click "Publish Post." This entry, as well as any updates to the entry, will appear in your RSS feed.

Sticky Post Element

  • Launch a Web browser and log in to your Blogger account.

  • Click "Design."

  • Click the "Add a Gadget" link found between the "Header" and "Blog Posts" sections.

  • Click the "+" button for the "Text" gadget to add it to your Blogger layout.

  • Compose the contents of the post and then click "Save." This post will appear separate from the blog posts and thus not appear in your RSS feed. You can update the contents of the post or remove it entirely by returning to the "Design" section of your blog.
