How Do You Get to the Sky Pillar in Sapphire?

The "Pokemon" video games contain many dungeons for you to explore, but sometimes these areas are not easy to find. For example, in "Pokemon Sapphire," Sky Pillar is a large tower that you can access by exploring water routes in eastern Hoenn. The dungeon is an excellent place to train your team and capture high-level Pokemon. If you climb to the top of Sky Pillar, you will find Rayquaza, a legendary Pokemon.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you intend to climb Sky Pillar, you should bring along the Mach Bike. You'll need to traverse the tower's floors as fast as possible because the tiles crumble as you tread on them. If it's not in your inventory, retrieve the Mach Bike from Mauville City.

  • Bring healing items, such as Super Potions. You may need to heal your team after battling the wild Pokemon throughout the tower. Golbat, Claydol, Banette and Altaria are some examples of the creatures you will come across. Stock up on Repel if you want to forego the battles. Bring Ultra Balls if you plan to add a few new Pokemon to your collection.

  • The Rayquaza at the top of Sky Pillar is the only one in the game, so take care in capturing it. Save the game before you engage the beast. If you knock it out by accident, restart the game to try again. Rayquaza is a Dragon and Flying-type Pokemon, so use Rock-, Ice- and Dragon-type attacks to weaken it. Use Hypnosis to put the beast to sleep. Throw Ultra Balls until you subdue Rayquaza. For a brief battle, use the Master Ball as soon as you encounter the legendary Pokemon.
