RAM comes in the form of memory sticks.

RAM, which is short for Random Access Memory, helps your computer multitask and run programs faster. Your Windows XP PC's RAM size is an important indicator of your computer's overall speed. Knowing your system's installed RAM also helps you determine what types of programs you can install on your PC, as different software requires different RAM sizes. View your PC's installed RAM in the "System Properties" dialog window.

Instructions

    • 1

Click Windows XP's "Start" menu button.

    • 2

Right-click "My Computer" to view a list of options for the folder.

    • 3

Click "Properties." A dialog box opens.

    • 4

Click the "General" tab at the top of the dialog box. Windows lists the size of your computer's RAM near the bottom of the window, just above the "Support Information" button.
